These 3 exercises to support the knees work on a few different aspects of knee support and strength. All of these exercise are suitable if you are beginning Pilates.
The first exercise addresses stabilizing the core so we don’t sink the weight of our upper body into our legs. The second Pilates exercise works to strengthen the outer thighs which has been shown to stabilize the knees. And the third exercise directly works on strengthening the knees.
The best part of this Pilates routine (and all of the classes on this channel) is that you can have an effective at home Pilates workout, whether it be specific Pilates exercises for knee pain or a total body Pilates class.
Pilates has been shown to help reduce knee pain. The beauty of Pilates is that we look at the body in a holistic view. That is, if you have knee pain, let's look at different types of exercises that can help with that. I picked three of my go to at home Pilates exercises for knee pain that I used all of the time with clients in a Pilates studio. But there are many other exercise options to reduce knee pain and tips as well. An insider tip is to evaluate alignment in the exercises to ensure the knees are tracking properly.
It is very important that the exercises for knees that hurt ARE NOT making your knees hurt during the exercises. Each one of these exercises should cause no pain or discomfort.
