Reverse curl is a favorite of mine if you want to work on the Pilates exercise roll up.
It is important to work a basic upper ab curl because we use this in SO many Pilates exercises.
The pelvic curl with no legs for support will get the ab muscles prepared for all of the roll over work that we do.
When put all together, these three Pilates ab exercises are a very effective workout for the abs.
I use these Pilates ab exercises with beginning level Pilates students through advanced level Pilates students.
Pilates TIP: Whenever you work the abs you want to ensure that you are gently scooping the abs in and not pushing out with the abs. (I think most of us want to develop the abs in and not bulging out.)
This an effective Pilates ab workout with no equipment, just a Pilates mat!
